Federal judge in Iowa ridicules Trump’s pardons

It would appear that the pardons that Trump has issued is signaling that his administration is corrupt. His pardoning of criminals, is not surprising according to US District Judge Robert Pratt of the Southern District.


“It’s not surprising that a criminal like Trump pardons other criminals,” senior U.S. District Judge Robert Pratt of the Southern District of Iowa told The Associated Press in a brief phone interview Monday. In a bit of humor, he said: “But apparently to get a pardon, one has to be either a Republican, a convicted child murderer or a turkey.”

Pratt was referring to pardons Trump granted to his former campaign aides convicted during the special counsel’s Russia inquiry, former GOP congressmen who committed crimes, and security contractors convicted of killing innocent civilians in Iraq. Trump also pardons turkeys — this year two from Iowa — annually before Thanksgiving."

I see that a US District judge is condemning Trump as a criminal before his trial.
Now, although most people can accuse Trump of that and much else, the fact that a judge would do so without evidence being submitted to a court of law for adjudication by a jury is somewhat disturbing, not because it's America (where what happens in one minute is denied the next) but it could set a precident in other countries where law and order is not treated with such a cavalier attitude.

I would think at the least, the judge would have to recuse himself from any trial involving Trump and while I don't know much about judicial rules I'd think he could face ethics charges.
