I guess that's what sets our generation apart from their generation. Different values, different interests and so forth............

It's not a generation thing, but a culture thing.

(I'd post a picture here to illustrate, but graphics show up here so small it's hardly worth the effort.) I'm guessing you're going to tell me that my impression is wrong, and I just haven't seen enough of it to know what I'm talking about? (Go ahead...I'm ready for it.)
To me, someone saying that they don't like anime is like them saying that they don't like books or movies. If you think you don't, it's because you haven't found the right one for you, and I guarantee that there is something out there for everyone. Maybe not a lot, but something.

It's more than fair enough to say that Japan is a decidedly more sexist place than the United States is and that their typical entertainment looks like it too. No doubt that's why it's frequently off-putting to me and always highly popular on alt-right sites like Storm Front. But that said, there are many truly wonderful exceptions to that rule that shouldn't be written off! Speaking for myself, I'm a particularly big fan of director Isao Takahata's work, which includes such genuine masterpieces as Grave of the Fireflies and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. Here's a trailer for the latter:

And I think it is worth adding here that all countries, including ours, have a culture of pedophilia that merits combating.

Sorry, animated porn does nothing for me.

There's a real time game called World of Warships (you fight against other players around the world) - it has totally sick graphics and loads of fun, but I got into trouble on their forum when they said they were going to replace the WW2 battleships and cruisers with teenaged anime girls wearing extra short skirts and carrying guns, and I said that was a bit sick (in a porno way). I had loads of older men pile on me, and the forum administrator made me change my post cos he said it would offend any Japanese players, cos anime is a way of life there. I thought that was weird, cos if some Japanese poster said he didn't understand cricket; would he have to change his post in case some Aussie, or Brit, or New Zealander didn't like that?

No disrespect to the Japanese, but they do not set my standards about what is porn and what is not. I like girls, but I like real girls, and I'm not into girls much younger than me. I think its a bit weird for older men to be perving over cartoon characters of young schoolgirls in short skirts - which is what that sort of anime is about.

Am I too old-fashioned and uncool - what does everyone else think?

I don't watch anime, but it's my understanding that it's not all pervy. The only reason for pervy anime has been the fact that the distribution of hardcore porn is against the law in Japan. That said, given the internet, I don't see the ban really preventing the consumption of such material anymore.
